Canadian Tire Stores to Receive 100,000 Bags of Salt Over Next 24 Hours
Company's Distribution Centre on High-Alert For Support Requests From Quebec & Atlantic Canada Stores
TORONTO, Dec. 23, 2013 /CNW/ - In the wake of the weekend's ice storm, today Canadian Tire announced that it has dispatched 100 transport trucks loaded with bags of road salt to its stores across Southern Ontario. While it is prioritizing locations along the Kitchener-Toronto-Kingston corridor, the Company is working around the clock to replenish inventory levels at all of its 120 Canadian Tire stores in the region. It expects to deliver 100,000 bags of salt to its stores over the next 24 hours, with shipments arriving at many stores as early as this morning.
Canadian Tire's Distribution Centres in Brampton, Ontario, has been working at full capacity since the storm's arrival on Saturday morning. In addition to salt, Canadian Tire is working closely with vendors now and over the holidays to ensure the availability of additional emergency supplies - items like generators, chainsaws, axes, power packs, propane, batteries, flashlights, fire wood, water and shovels.
Many Canadian Tire stores across Southern Ontario are extending store hours to serve those in need, but customers are encouraged to contact their local location directly for store-specific information.
As the storm makes its way towards Eastern Canada, Canadian Tire also announced that the distribution centre that services Quebec and the Maritimes has been put on high-alert for additional support requests and product orders in the region.
