TORONTO, July 24, 2014 /CNW/ - On Thursday, July 31, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Canadian hockey hero, Jonathan Toews, will visit Labrador City, NL and spend the day with the community. Jonathan will be in Labrador City to celebrate the success of the Jumpstart Red Ball campaign, an annual month long fundraising initiative that helps get kids across Canada off the sidelines and into the game.
The Labrador City Canadian Tire location was the winning store of the Jumpstart Red Ball campaign contest in which Canadian Tire stores across the country competed to collect the most Jumpstart $2 Red Ball donations per transaction during the month of May. Given the recent economic setbacks in the region, local Canadian Tire Dealer, Chris Kondracki, felt it was important to rally the community to bring Toews to their hometown. The Labrador City store came out on top selling more Red Balls than the number of residents living in Labrador City.
