TORONTO, May 27, 2014 /CNW/ - On May 31, 2014, Canadian Tire stores across Canada will celebrate the sixth annual Jumpstart Day. The day-long fundraising event celebrates Jumpstart's Red Ball campaign, which, through the month of May, encourages customers to donate $2 in exchange for a red ball – a national symbol for child's play. One hundred percent of every donation made in the community stays in the community in which it was made.
One in three Canadian families cannot afford to enrol their kids in organized sports or physical activities. All funds raised through the Red Ball campaign and on Jumpstart Day, stay within the community in which they were raised. Over the past nine years, Canadian Tire Jumpstart has helped more than 730,000 kids across Canada by removing financial barriers that prevent children from participating in organized sports.
Customers can also celebrate Jumpstart Day by visiting Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Atmosphere, Mark's, Sports Experts, National Sports and Gas+ locations across the country throughout the month to make a $2 donation in return for an iconic Red Ball.
Canadian Tire invites residents across Canada to get involved and help make a difference.
