TORONTO, June 24, 2013 /CNW/ - This weekend, Ron Fellows tore up the track at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Sonoma Raceway in California - where he proudly sported the red triangle on the hood of his car.
"Congratulations to Ron Fellows and the #33 team for their success this weekend in Sonoma," said Landon French, Vice President, Sport Sponsorships, Canadian Tire. "As a longtime supporter of racing in Canada and longtime partner of Ron's we were proud to see the triangle on the hood of the #33 Chevy at the prestigious NASCAR Sprint Cup race. We wish Ron the best of luck at Watkins Glen in August and fingers crossed for another great finish!"
Fellows qualified for the race in the 25th position and entered Sunday's race feeling confident. In the end, Fellows finished 22nd. Fellows has a second chance at a Sprint Cup victory at the Watkins Glen International Raceway on August 11. A victory here would make him only the 24th driver to win a NASCAR race in Trucks, Nationwide and Cup.
"The last 25 laps were some good fun. We made a fairly big shock adjustment and tire pressure change at our last pit stop, and managed to go from 37th up to 19th. Unfortunately, we were run into and dropped to 22nd," said Ron Fellows."On the positive side, we had lots of great comments about the flames on the side of our Canadian Tire Chevy. And, we have a good amount of information to apply to our Watkins Glen test next month prior to the race there on August 11th."
Coverage of the Watkins Glen race on August 11 will be broadcasted on TSN at 12:00 p.m. for the pre-race and 1:00 p.m. for the race.
