EDMONTON, June 18, 2013 /CNW/ - On June 20, Canadian Tire Corporation and Jumpstart Charities will visit the YMCA Welcome Village and the Boyle Street Plaza, a new partnership facility with the YMCA located in downtown Edmonton. Stephen Wetmore, President and CEO of Canadian Tire Corporation, is in town for the announcement of new programs available at the centre and to participate in a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Wetmore will be available for photo opportunities.

The YMCA Welcome Village was completed in December 2012, with support from Edmonton's Canadian Tire Store #288, to better serve local children and their families in the community. Canadian Tire and Jumpstart Charities will be supporting three new programs with the YMCA of Northern Alberta on an ongoing basis, each designed to help keep local kids active and healthy.

In addition to Wetmore, Olympic gold medallist Rosie MacLennan, local Canadian Tire Dealer Gerry Feist and Chairman of the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities Board, Martha Billes, will join 150 local kids to celebrate the new offerings.

Since 2005, Canadian Tire Jumpstart has helped give more than 600,000 kids across Canada the chance to play by removing the financial barriers that prevent children from participating in sport and recreational activities.
