CANADIAN TIRE kicks off spring with first ever HOME & AUTO SHOW and ULTIMATE PLAYOFF PARTY today

Hundreds of new products, celebrity appearances, NHL alumni players and musical guests

TORONTO, April 20, 2013 /CNW/ - For the first time, Canadian Tire is inviting the public to the final day of its annual Dealer Convention taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The free, interactive event, named The Canadian Tire Home and Auto Show, takes place today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Inside the event visitors will have the chance to see and test the latest products designed for life in Canada. Celebrity appearances and demonstrations at the event include Chef Lynn Crawford, Cake Boss Buddy Valastro, Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan, professional angler Bob Izumi and Olympic Athletes. Hockey fans will have the chance to take their photo with the Stanley Cup and other Hockey Hall of Fame trophies.

On Front Street between John Street and Simcoe Street, Canadian Tire will also host the Ultimate Playoff Party from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The outdoor event, also free, features a synthetic ice rink with scheduled clinics and demonstrations, a ball hockey rink and interactive hockey games, where show-goers can test their skills in a series of challenges. NHL alumni Glenn Healy, Mike Palmateer, Nick Kypreos, Paul Coffey, Kris King, Jeff O'Neill and Tom Fergus are scheduled to attend.

The outdoor hockey party also includes a BBQ stage featuring Rob Rainford and Ted Reader grilling delicious playoff-perfect food and musical entertainment including a tribute to Stompin' Tom Connors at 4:30 p.m.
