Media Advisory - Winner of Canadian Tire 'Green School Challenge' to have shrubs planted throughout schoolyard
Grade five class at Connaught Public School to be recognized for their commitment to the environmentTORONTO, May 5 /CNW/ -What: In December, Ms. Richardson's class at Connaught Public School received Canadian Tire's first 'Green School Challenge Award' in recognition of the steps the grade five students are taking inside and outside of the classroom to help the environment. Join Canadian Tire this Thursday as we acknowledge the students' efforts with the planting of shrubs throughout their schoolyard. When: Thursday, May 7 2009 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Where: Connaught Public School 1149 Gladstone Ave. Ottawa, ON Background: The 'Green School Challenge Award' was created by Canadian Tire to recognize classes who are actively taking steps to help the environment. One winning class was chosen in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Toronto. To recognize each of the classes, Canadian Tire will be planting trees throughout the school yard in the spring and providing each of the winning kids with an eco-friendly gift bag and pizza party.
