TORONTO, Jan. 16 /CNW/ - Canadian Tire and PartSource are voluntarily
recalling the Motomaster HotWash Windshield Washer Fluid Heater (Canadian Tire
product number 21-0020-2) and the HotWash Windshield Washer Fluid Heater
(PartSource product number 021-0022-8) due to a manufacturing defect that
poses a potential safety issue. It has been determined that the relay in a
small number of these units is defective causing it to stick, resulting in the
unit overheating and smoking.
    While Canadian Tire and PartSource have not been notified of any instance
of injury, it has received three reports of incidents occurring in which the
unit started smoking and/or caught fire. It is requested that customers
immediately discontinue use of the product and return it to their nearest
Canadian Tire or PartSource store for a refund.
