Canadian Tire joins the family of Brandon Crisp to help give kids in need the chance to play
TORONTO, Nov. 14 /CNW/ - Canadian Tire announced today that it was joining the Brandon Crisp family to help raise funds to provide kids in financial need with the opportunity to play organized sports and recreation. The funds, which will be donated to Canadian Tire JumpStart in memory of Brandon Crisp, will help remove financial barriers by covering the costs associated with participating in sports, including registration fees, equipment and transportation. To enable the Crisp family to provide even more kids in need with the chance to play, Canadian Tire will be collecting funds in honour of Brandon online and at all of its stores across Ontario starting November 14th. National in scope but local in its focus, Canadian Tire JumpStart was created in 2005 to help remove financial barriers to recreation and sports. The program is delivered through 270 local chapters across the country. These chapters are made up of Canadian Tire Associate Dealers and community leaders who work together to identify beneficiaries of the program and ensure its effective delivery. "On behalf of Canadian Tire Corporation, our employees and our Associate Dealers, I extend our deepest sympathy to the Crisp family," says Dan Thompson, president, Canadian Tire Foundation for Families. "We are truly honoured to have been selected by the family to work together so that we can extend our outreach in memory of Brandon to help even more children in need have the chance to play." Residents interested in donating funds in memory of Brandon Crisp can do so between November 14th - December 6th, 2008 at www.canadiantire.ca/jumpstart or in the donation collection boxes at any Canadian Tire store across Ontario. All of the funds collected in Brandon's memory will be donated through Canadian Tire JumpStart to kids in financial need across the country to cover the costs associated with participating in sports and organization recreation, including registration fees, equipment and transportation. The Canadian Tire Foundation for Families is a charitable organization focused on building strong communities by providing a helping hand to families and children in need. In addition to community fundraising events and a crisis response network, the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families helps kids in need participate in organized sports and recreation through Canadian Tire JumpStart. Since its inception, Canadian Tire JumpStart has helped give 129,000 kids in need the chance to play.
