The goal is to raise $250,000 in just four hours, on one specific evening, to support breast cancer research. From 5:00 p.m. until close on May 1st in each respective time zone, Mark's Work Wearhouse/L'Equipeur (in Québec) will make a donation of $5.00 to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada to help fund essential research every time a customer spends $65.00 or more(*) at stores across the country. Breast cancer is the cause -------------------------- "We're honoured to have been chosen as the recipient charity," says Sherry Johnston, Executive Director, Breast Cancer Society of Canada. "The company has set aggressive goals for itself and we are most optimistic that Canadians will join Mark's in its quest to support breast cancer research. Should Mark's achieve its goal, this will be the largest one-time donation we will have received." "This is a very special initiative for us, as our core customer falls within the age range where cancer is a potential health issue, not only for themselves, but for family and friends. Our goal is that this campaign positively impacts breast cancer research and awareness," says Michael Strachan, Senior Vice President, Merchandising, Mark's Work Wearhouse. "Mark's will do everything it can to ensure the program is meaningful for the charity and consumers alike." On the evening of May 1st, in honour of the Clothes That Work for the Cause campaign and in return for shoppers' generosity, Mark's will provide special one-night only savings in-store to everyone who helps support the fundraising effort. To raise as much money for the Breast Cancer Society of Canada as possible, Mark's has produced targeted English and French-language radio and television Public Service Announcements. They are currently running on national networks from coast-to-coast, posing the question, "What are you doing for the cause?" and encouraging viewers and listeners to visit the campaign website. The innovative online viral marketing campaign is designed to raise further awareness of the cause and inspire Canadians to take action when they visit www.workforthecause.com workforthecause.com ------------------- workforthecause.com is an interactive website designed to support breast cancer research, launched April 24th, 2008.
