More than $92 million in Canadian Tire 'Money' on the Card® awarded to Canadian shoppers

    TORONTO, April 15 /CNW/ - Whether it's a barbecue for the grilling king
(or queen), a bike for the sports enthusiast, camping equipment for the great
outdoorsman, gardening tools for the green thumb or the latest high-tech tool
for the do-it-yourselfer, Canadian Tire Financial Services Limited (CTFS) is
helping Canadians get everything they need for spring, easily and affordably,
with the new and improved Options MasterCard credit card. The new card not
only enables cardmembers to earn Canadian Tire 'Money' On The Card everywhere
they shop, anywhere in the world, but it is also PayPass enabled providing
customers with added convenience and security.

    Earning Canadian Tire 'Money' Anywhere, Anytime

    Introduced in 1958, Canadian Tire 'Money' continues to be one of the
oldest and most recognized loyalty programs in the country. The much-loved
program was later expanded to enable Options MasterCard cardmembers to earn
electronic Canadian Tire 'Money' On The Card. As testament to the program's
popularity, last year alone, Canadian Tire awarded Options MasterCard
cardmembers with more than $92 million in Canadian Tire 'Money' on the Card.
    "The team at Canadian Tire Financial Services listens to what our
customer's value when it comes to financial products and services," says Jim
Kozack, vice president, Canadian Tire Financial Services. "We created a card
that makes it easy to earn and redeem valuable rewards and one that provides
our cardmembers with exclusive offers to help them save money all year long."
    According to a survey conducted by Ipsos Reid on behalf of CTFS, fifty
per cent of Canadians feel constrained by the lack of options when they go to
redeem rewards from their loyalty programs.
    "We know that our customers want choice when it comes to redeeming
rewards," says Kozack. "With the Canadian Tire Options MasterCard customers
can redeem rewards on more than 95,000 exciting products available at Canadian
Tire stores across the country."

    Pay on the Go with PayPass

    In addition to Canadian Tire 'Money on the Card, the new and improved
card also features PayPass technology enabling customers to simply tap their
card at a PayPass terminal. The card never has to leave the customer's hand,
providing added security and making it faster for customers to complete their
transaction.
    "Whether they're using their card to buy their morning coffee, purchase
groceries for their family or to catch a movie, Options MasterCard credit
cardmembers can simply tap the card at a PayPass terminal and earn valuable
Canadian Tire 'Money' on the Card," Kozack added.
    With a completely new look designed to remind customers that they can
earn Canadian Tire 'Money' on the Card at more than 24 million locations
around the world, the new Canadian Tire Options MasterCard with PayPass
technology has already been made available to more than 3 million cardholders
across the country and will continue to expand.
