Statement on fire at Canadian Tire store
MONTREAL, May 25 /CNW/ - Early last night a fire occurred at the Canadian Tire Pointe aux Trembles store located at 12625 Sherbrooke Street East. While the fire was originally controlled and extinguished by fire fighters, it reignited later in the evening causing significant damage. Fortunately, no customers or staff were injured during the incident. Canadian Tire has not been advised of the cause of the fire by authorities, and the company will not make further statements about the fire until notified by authorities about its cause. We wish to thank the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal and Service de police de la Ville de Montréal for their efforts to contain this fire and to ensure the safety of our employees and customers. We are fully co-operating with both police and fire authorities to determine the cause of this fire. "I extend my personal thanks to fire fighters for working to contain this blaze and to the police service for ensuring safety and security. Now that the fire is over, I am already working to meet the needs of my team including finding opportunities for them with our fellow local Canadian Tire stores in the interim as we work to rebuild our store and business. We appreciate the good wishes of our customers and the community that we have received," said Andre Vaillancourt, Associate Dealer, Canadian Tire Associate Store.
